In the Touch of _ verions of H & P’s story the female who narrates these audiobooks correctly pronounced Louce as “Lua-Key”. Tyler Donne pronounces “aged” as “age-ed” and “winged” as “wing-ed”. Take for example parts of the story where the author describes an older person or the Furies. Not only does he do a terrible job at voice acting but he pronounces common words weird and mispronounces names that have already been correctly narrated in the A Touch of _ versions of this story. It reminds me of the old school SNL Julia Child bit…you know, where the male actor is intentionally trying to make the female voice sound ridiculous. His voice for Persephone sounds like any movie you’ve seen where a male character is trying to trick someone on the other line of the phone that they are talking to a female. Soooooo bad it killed any passion or spice.Īnd what’s worse is that the book is written well but this narrator made it awkward as hell. If you have no idea what I mean by “Movie-Phone Guy” what I mean is listening to Tyler Donne narrate this audiobook sounded like a middle school principle reading the morning announcements over a PA system. The story and writing itself is very good.Īudiobook Narration: Do you dream of having the “Movie-Phone Guy” read you an erotic novel? We’ll look no further than Tyler Donne narrating this one. It is only because of Tyler Donne’s terrible narration skills in this genre that I gave this book and the two before it a low rating. Really anyone with power or influence to do the right thing and find a different voice actor to narrate the rest of the audiobooks in this series.
I really hope someone in the decisions department or the author herself. TYLER DONNE FAILS SPECTACULARLY AT NARRATING THE FIRST TWO “A Game of _” books. Consider this my pre-review-fingers-crossed-CRY FOR FUCKING HELP TO HIRE A DIFFERENT VOICE ACTOR/NARRATOR.
