Still, it's better than the Anshan (at 6.3) and the other tier 6 DDs. It's 6.1 detection range means it's stealthy, but not as much as the Fubuki or Hatsuharu. The six main guns do have a good alpha strike (I've done 2,900 salvos to cruisers), but the fire chance is low. You could also opt not to take TAE and take SE instead to get more smoke charges, but I just think the Shinonome is too much of a torp boat to not take TAE. It has a 9 second reload on the guns, so taking BFT would only reduce that to an 8.1 second reload, which isn't enough to warrant taking BFT over TAE or SE, which I think are the two best 3-point skills to take. Don't see anyone buying them.The Shinonome is not a gunboat. So sluggish, with sucky torp + MB range? Okaaaaay then. She had no historical content, she has nothing special characteristic separate her from IJN DD, she is not a good ship. IJN DD AP is one of the worse out of all AP shell in this game. IJN HE damage and fire chance has being nerf as a result of "Balance". Oh yea, you still screwed if you fighting a Stalinium build DD, and future KM DD. So, you aren't outright doom, but Farragut had longer range compare to Benson. But you are fighting a essentially nerf Benson. You are about on par with current Fubuki with 0.5km stealth gone, and torpedo gone, and 1.2km gunrange gone. 6km of different, you can smoke up and turn and torp and escape. ~Slugish as rudder are none responsive at all vs Good old American DD turning characteristic with responsive rudder. Farragut will perform like always, and still got "OH, shet, smoke up" ~Speed, you clearly cannot torpedo stuff, you used your gun most of the time, and you are facing tons of light cruiser thatn has onpar better speed than you, good luck. ~Both torpedo suck by not being able to launch pass at stealth. CQC torpedo wise, Farragut works better because Shinonome launch angle is worse than Fubuki. ~Both gun armament are workable, but lack of range on Shinonome stock, 10.8km after aft still suck. compare to Farragut (B Hull 5 gun config, no range upgrade) "Perhaps thats the individual skill problem"
